Hegseth confirms plan to cut 20% of US top military brass and rails at ‘beardos, weirdos and wimps’

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ignited a firestorm after confirming plans to slash twenty percent of the United States military’s top brass. Speaking to lower ranking troops at the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, Virginia, Hegseth signaled a sweeping purge of generals and admirals who he believes adhered to what he termed the woke department. His rhetoric was blunt and confrontational, asserting that the era of walking on eggshells is over and declaring that beardos, weirdos, wimps, and radicals would no longer be tolerated within the ranks of the American warrior class.

The defense secretary spent much of his address railing against diversity and inclusion efforts, branding Ivy League universities as DEI worshipping woke factories despite being an alumnus of both Harvard and Princeton himself. He insisted that the sole focus of the military must remain on training, readiness, and lethality. To shift away from traditional academic pipelines, Hegseth announced new partnerships with conservative leaning institutions like Liberty University and Hillsdale College, alongside others such as Louisiana State University and Tuskegee University.

Amidst these policy shifts, Hegseth dismissed reporting regarding plummeting troop morale as propaganda authored by foreign adversaries. This defense comes in the wake of troubling reports from the USS Abraham Lincoln, where eight sailors attempted suicide during a grueling deployment extended due to tensions with Iran. While critics point to mental health crises and supply failures on the carrier, Hegseth countered by claiming record retention rates among personnel serving aboard the ship.

Looking toward future modernization, Hegseth revealed a new Pentagon project aimed at studying the future of warfare. The initiative will involve high profile figures including Elon Musk and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, as well as Palmer Luckey. Luckey’s firm, Anduril Industries, has already secured billions in government contracts over the past year under the current administration’s push for technological dominance over ideological inclusivity.
